Pan feeders come in manual and automatic types; suspension rope is mostly used for manual pan feeders. A manual pan feeder has a pan and a hopper and is either suspended from the ceiling by a cable or rope or placed directly on the floor. These feeders consist of a barrel-like hopper with a round pan below it. A screw adjusts the amount of feed entering the pan, and the feeders are made of galvanized iron or plastic. If suspended from the ceiling by straps or ropes, their height can easily be raised or lowered. The pan feeder suspension rope is made of fiber-reinforced polypropylene plastic (ppg), and a full roll is 100 meters long.
