A feed tank, or hopper, is placed at the beginning of the automatic feeding line, with a special sensor at the end to switch off the motor and gearbox as soon as the pans are full. Simply fill the dedicated hopper and press start, and all pans throughout the house will automatically receive enough feed. A raised crown-like rib on the feeding pipe prevents chickens from climbing onto it and causing it to warp.

Each pipe length has 5 holes for feed to discharge into the pans. The upper rib prevents pan rotation, while a projection beneath the pipe prevents pans from moving left and right. A 1 cm lip is formed along the top of the pipe to prevent and reduce feeder-pan movement. Because these pipes have an upper rib, no anti-perch shock wire is required, so buying ribbed feeder pipe reduces the final cost. The pipes are manufactured with a suitable diameter to allow easy auger rotation. Ribbed feeder pipes are made from 1 mm-thick galvanized sheet. For automatic pan feeding systems, they are produced in 3-meter and 4-meter versions. On 3-meter lengths, pans are installed 75 cm apart, allowing 4 feeder pans per 3 meters of pipe. On 4-meter lengths, pans are installed every 80 cm, giving 5 pans per 4 meters.
